About the Editor in Chief

Silvia Calamai (Orcid ID: 0000-0002-6585-2576) is full professor in Linguistics and Sociolinguistics at the University of Siena. She is member of the CLARIN Legal and Ethical Issues Committee and the CLARIN-IT Consortium. Her main research interests are sociophonetics, oral archives and dialectology. She is the coordinator of the Erasmus+ project CIRCE: Counteracting accent discrimination practices in education (2023-25) on accentism and linguistic racism in Europe, and she is in the Management Committee of the COST Action CA19102 ‘Language In The Human-Machine Era' (LITHME). She is working on oral archives from different point of views, in a multidisciplinary and international research group together with Arjan van Essen, Henk van den Heuvel, Christopher Draxler, Stef Scagliola (speechandtech.eu). She also discovered neglected oral archives – for which she received the attention of Italian press and media, and she is coordinating a national project on Italian oral archives (ROADS – Roads to Oral Archives Development and Sustainability, PRIN 2022-24).

Her work has been published in various peer-reviewed journals, refereed conference proceedings, and collective volumes. In addition to over 100 scholarly contributions and two manuals for university students, she has written four books based on phonetic and dialectological fieldwork.
