About the Journal
Fashion Highlight journal aims at building an interdisciplinary space to share research experiences in the fashion area at national and international level. Studies and practices developed in the fashion system play a crucial role in understanding emerging instances since it concerns the interpretation of the ways in which society expresses, communicates, and gets organized.
Fashion deals with the sphere of Humanities as well as technologies, configuring a research sector characterized by a strong interdisciplinarity. Within these peculiarities the research experiences on fashion connect a variety of values that span fluidly across different domains.
Fashion Highlight journal welcomes essays and research papers that deal with fashion as a transversal and transformative phenomenon, as a language of interpretation of emerging issues relating to contemporary changes and challenges. The journals welcome studies on fashion design and product development; about fashion – with anthropological, historiographic, sociological, ethnographic, philosophical, semiotic, aesthetic, and communicative approaches –up to studies in Fashion technological and scientific applications like textile chemistry, bio-computer science and digital electronics engineering - up to functional, industrial, economic, managerial, and legal models.
Considering this articulated and often complex disciplinary field, the Fashion Highlight project identifies a research horizon that is made up of heterogeneous pieces, proposing a “kaleidoscopic” vision on the fashion phenomenon. The journal therefore stands at the intersection of these multiple instances, aiming to investigate both on the local contexts and manufacturing cultures in which fashion is produced, as well as on the broader theoretical studies that address aesthetics and cultural representations of bodies through fashion in the individual and collective dimensions.
