Abstract
The paper presents a work conducted to inquire about local initiatives for sustainable fashion and design in the metropolitan area of Milan. The research borrows methodologies aimed at inquiring about societal issues through data derived from web platforms and attempts to readapt them to discover territorial initiatives. Starting from a relevant stakeholder promoting sustainable fashion and design practices, the research exploits algorithmic recommendations to find new accounts connected to meaningful initiatives. It analyzes them with qualitative, statistical, and visual methods. Thirty-six exemplar cases are identified and used to synthetically describe typologies of promoters of virtuous consumption models active in the studied geographical area. In conclusion, reflections on the effectiveness of the method are presented.
