Beyond Deglobalization. The World, the Globe, and the Planet

The article challenges contemporary claims of ‘deglobalization’ by critiquing the 1990s understanding of globalization as a homogenizing, market-driven project under U.S. hegemony. Drawing on and extending the authors’ work on ‘global processes’, it proposes an alternative analytical framework that foregrounds the heterogeneous, frictional, and infrastructural dynamics of finance, logistics, extraction, and digital platforms. Situating the current conjuncture within a conflictual multipolar order marked by war, pole formation, and disrupted relations between capitalism and territorialism, the authors reconceptualize transition as an open and contested spatiotemporal process. They call for a renewed internationalism capable of confronting the global operations of capital and articulating a politics of liberation.
