Abstract
This article compares two anti-fascist newspapers published in Brazil: one, La Difesa, aimed at the Italian community in São Paulo; the other, O Homem Livre, aimed at the Brazilian public. Both media outlets were key to the Brazilian anti-fascist campaign and the formation of a single anti-fascist front in the city of São Paulo in the 1930s. The similarity between the two newspapers lies in the primacy assumed by La Difesa in the implacable fight against fascism, which was followed by the political vision of O Homem Livre. The difference between the two newspapers centred on the importance given to art and culture issues by the Brazilian newspaper.
