Jean-Baptiste Fressoz is among the most influential historians dedicated to the history of climate change. In this interview, Fressoz traces his intellectual journey – from the Centre Koyré (Paris) to the CNRS (Paris) through the Imperial College (London) – enriched by discussions on (and with) Ulrich Beck, André Gorz and Bruno Latour, among others. In this dialogue, he explains the role history (and historians) should play today in a critical reflection on climate change. The text is a transcript, elaborated and revised by Fressoz, of a dialogue he had with the interviewers on April 19th, 2026.
