Abstract
The article analyzes what could be considered a drift from the debate on the Intellectual Meridian that traversed American culture in 1927, starting with a proposal from La Gaceta Literaria of Madrid that promoted that city as the Intellectual Meridian of Hispano-America. Just when the debate seemed to be over, the Buenos Aires magazine Nosotros launched a survey about Italian influence on Argentine culture. The numerous responses unfolded between February and July of 1928 across three successive issues, each with slight variations in title: «Sobre la influencia italiana en nuestra cultura», «Encuesta sobre la influencia italiana en nuestra cultura», and finally, «La influencia italiana sobre la cultura argentina», which concludes the inquiry with the opinion of Roberto F. Giusti, the magazine’s director.
